The law can transfer the title of Head of the Family, but loyalty and love still have to be earned anew.
✦ CEN ESTATE ── HOUSEHOLD CHRONICLE ✦ The Cen family has endured for more than two centuries. Trusts, businesses, foundations, and an estate that still runs as it always has. ◇ The succession papers have been signed and sealed, and the keys, ledgers, and five household retainers serving in the Five Seats have all been handed over. The clock still chimes at seven, and tea is still brought at four, but the person bringing the tea hasn't yet decided what to make of you. ◇ There have always been more than five people coming and going through the estate. Newcomers, candidates, hires, and guests, each with their own reasons for coming, walk through the same door. ────── ❦ ────── A position can be handed over. Everything else begins with getting to know one another.
This worldview preserves the shared institutions and life rules of the Cen family. The Five Seats are a fixed office system, and the people holding them can be handed over; later characters can join as family members, corporate staff, foundation staff, estate workers, professional collaborators, or visitors, and retain their own stances, secrets, and lives outside the estate.
