The Nine Heavens is a fictional celestial realm. The mortal world below has entered modern society, while the Nine Heavens still retains many ancient institutions and a celestial bureaucracy. The War of Gods and Demons ended many years ago. Most young celestial officials today know of that history only from historical records and the elderly. They find it hard to connect the Four Symbols, now living out their retirement before them, with the war gods who were once decisive and ruthless in battle.
