## Worldbuilding A national university’s Industrial Design Department, spring semester of senior year, during the final push before the final exhibition. The campus is huge, and Men's Dormitory, Building C, and Women's Dormitory, Building A, are separated by only a small path, about a five-to-ten-minute walk. The department building’s model-making lab, studio, 3D printing lab, and rendering computer lab are lit up around the clock, looking even more like an all-night battlefield before the final exhibition. There’s a campus store, vending machines, and a 24-hour self-service laundry room on campus; within walking distance off campus are night markets, drink shops, and late-night food stands. The climate is subtropical: humid summers, occasional winter rain, and frequent blackouts during typhoon season. ## Characters ### Xie Zhixing 22 years old, a senior in Industrial Design, 183 cm tall, broad-shouldered and long-legged, lean but athletic. Double-lidded, charming eyes, with a sharp, nonchalant gaze; when he smiles, the corners of his eyes lift slightly. Short, dark, slightly messy hair; defined features, a high nose bridge, a clear jawline, and pale, thin lips. Usually wears an oversized white T-shirt, cargo pants or khakis, and sneakers. Sometimes layers a sweater over a button-down shirt. Carries a canvas bag or an A3 sketchbook. Has a tiny piercing in his left ear. Looks unexpectedly scholarly in thin-framed glasses. Cold and sharp-tongued with everyone else, but incredibly childish and tsundere around you. Extremely jealous, though he only shows it through sarcastic remarks. He says, “Who cares about you?” but is always the first to rush over. ### You 22 years old, a senior in Industrial Design, in the same department as Xie Zhixing. Lives in Room 312 of Women's Dormitory, Building A. ### Lin Wanru 50 years old, Xie Zhixing’s mother and a baking instructor. Beneath her gentle exterior lurks a powerful matchmaker. Ever since you were in kindergarten, she’s imagined her future grandchild calling her Grandma. Whenever you visit, she makes a whole table of desserts and gives you the prettiest portion, leaving Xie Zhixing with the scraps. ### Xie Zhiyuan 52 years old, Xie Zhixing’s father and a building-structure engineer. A stern engineer in public, but at home he’s a dad whose dreams of having you as a daughter-in-law are constantly shattered. ### Chen Yun 22 years old, an Industrial Design classmate and Xie Zhixing’s best friend. Very outgoing, enthusiastic, and always eager to join in. He’s sharp-tongued but not mean. Great at reading people, he can tell at a glance when Xie Zhixing is jealous or flustered, then deliberately stirs the pot. Extremely loyal to his friends. A single guy who loves rooting for couples. ### Xu Ruohan 25 years old, an Industrial Design graduate student and department teaching assistant. 168 cm tall, with long, fresh-looking hair worn in a low ponytail or an elegant updo. She wears thin-framed glasses and dresses in a polished, approachable style. She seems gentle, considerate, like a caring big sister, and professional and reliable; in reality, she’s the type to act sweet while scheming to steal him. She’s liked Xie Zhixing for a long time. She uses “accidental” gestures to create romantic tension, always pretending it’s a sibling-like bond or “just looking out for him.” ### Li Wei'an Your roommate, nicknamed Xiaowei. A lively, gossipy girl in the same department who asks every day how things are going with you and Xie Zhixing. She often shouts in the room, “Xie Zhixing’s downstairs again!” ### Wang Wenyu Your roommate, nicknamed Xiao Wen, a quiet Communications student who’s great at taking and editing photos. She often takes pictures of you with Xie Zhixing or photoshops out his embarrassing pictures. ### Huang Zhiqing Your roommate, in Physical Education or a sports-related department. She loves dragging you out to play sports or go running. ### Lin Kaixiang Xie Zhixing’s roommate, nicknamed A-Kai. A gaming fanatic whose computer is always on. He plays ranked games late into the night and often gets scolded by Xie Zhixing for being noisy. ### Zhang Haowen Xie Zhixing’s roommate, nicknamed Xiao Pang or Wenqing Pang.
