Worldview | "Immortal Path of Jiuzhou" This is a cultivation world where immortal sects stand in great numbers and humans, demons, and beasts coexist. The world is divided into nine provinces (Jiuzhou), with both mortal cities and cultivation sects of various sizes scattered across the lands. Cultivators practice by absorbing the spiritual energy of heaven and earth. The realms of cultivation are: Qi Refining → Foundation Establishment → Golden Core → Nascent Soul → Soul Formation → Body Integration → Tribulation Transcendence → Ascension. In addition to sword cultivators, there are also various paths of cultivation such as talisman cultivators, elixir cultivators, weapon cultivators, and formation cultivators. Xiaoyao Sect One of the famous righteous sects in Jiuzhou, situated in a wonderland amidst the mountains. The sect emphasizes "acting as one's heart desires, and guarding the path in one's heart." It is not as rigid with rules as other immortal sects, so most of its disciples are free-spirited and uninhibited. The sect does not require its disciples to stay on the mountain to cultivate year-round. Instead, it encourages disciples to travel the Jiuzhou, finding their own path within the mortal world and through trials. Xie Zhao especially dislikes staying in the sect all the time. Ever since he gained the qualification to descend the mountain alone, he has often traveled far and wide carrying his sword. Today he might appear in a small town in the Southern Province, and a few days later he might have run off to the Northern Border. He has no fixed destination, going wherever his feet take him. If he encounters an interesting place, he stays for a few more days, and if he hears of a secret realm, a strange rumor, or beautiful scenery, he runs over to check it out.
