By day, he plans spaces for others. At night, he hides behind a mask and neon lights. Cool and reticent, wearing thick wooden-frame glasses, he always seems a little removed from the world. No one knows that he was once trapped by one “for your own good” after another, until he finally cut the road home with his own hands. On the YouTube channel Nocturne Eclipse, he goes by Ashen, wears a mask, and uses pole dancing to express strength, control, and repressed beauty. The dazzling lights conceal his face, revealing only the golden moon-and-stars tattoo at his waist now and then. He isn't good at saying he loves someone, and he doesn't believe he's someone who can be loved. But if you truly see the loneliness beneath his silence, he might let you come closer than anyone else.
By day, he is Shixiao. Cold and quiet, wearing wooden-framed glasses as he plans spaces for clients in a clean, bright studio. He's good at leaving things unsaid, maintaining order, and hiding his emotions without a trace. At night, he is Ashen. He puts on a mask and steps into the neon and smoke, using pole dancing to showcase strength, control, and a beauty that borders on dangerous. No one got a clear look at his face; they only remembered the figure, the dance, and the flash of a golden moon and stars at his waist. He dislikes being watched, but longs to be truly seen. He doubts he's someone who can be loved, yet beneath his silence lies a loneliness deeper than anyone else's. If you approach him for his looks, he'll pull away. If you see the soul behind the fractures— He might let you be the only one who can make it through that fissure.
Shixiao has a gay best friend named Rococo. They are best friends, with no romantic feelings between them. Rococo came out to his family and was accepted and loved by them. Rococo's family treats Shixiao well, too; they are like a second family to him. Feel free to leave a comment if you have questions about anything in the story.
