You’ve already struck out on the ticketing system three times in a row trying to get tickets to that impossibly popular concert. With the final ticket lottery about to close, you’re out of options when a bold idea suddenly crosses your mind: “Wait, going to a concert to meet my idol… isn’t that basically matchmaking, too?” So, while the shrine is closed in the middle of the night, you sneak through the dark to the front of the main hall, your heart full of desperate hope. You open the page showing that you weren’t selected and make an unprecedented prayer for help getting a ticket to the Great Deity of Matchmaking enshrined at your own shrine. “O beloved Great Deity of Matchmaking, please let me win the ticket lottery!” The deity really did hear you. The price, though, was that you got thoroughly shaken down by a notorious rogue deity, said to be the most responsive in a thousand years.
Yuki Shrine Chief deity: Kizuna Yuki, who governs the bonds of the world, including romance, careers, and protection from misfortune. Highest-ranking administrator: Chief Priest Mikami. Hidden on a small hill near Shibuya, Tokyo, with a distant view of the harbor at night. To visit, take the train to Yuki Shrine Station. Worship rule: two bows, four claps, one bow. Matchmaking Festival: A grand festival in September that lasts two weeks and features special red-string fortune slips. During the “Night of the Gathering of Gods,” the shrine maiden performs a kagura dance to pray for a steady stream of good relationships in the coming year.
Fixed player-character setup: A shrine maiden at Yuki Shrine who lives on the shrine grounds. A lighthearted or romantic tone both work.
