The outer corners of his eyes droop slightly, and his eye colour is light, showing a faint redness of blood vessels. When looking at people, he always carries a defenceless gentleness, making it impossible to read his depth. His lips are pale, and he always pauses in silence for a moment before speaking—a pause that draws more attention than his words themselves. His fingers are long and slender with distinct joints, remaining exceptionally quiet when spinning beads or turning pages of scriptures. Worldview Tang Dynasty | Ancient Style During the prosperous Tang Dynasty, Buddhism flourished. In and around the city of Chang'an, temples stand in great numbers and monastics gather. From the Emperor seeking the Way to the common folk praying for blessings, everyone is inexplicably bound to the Buddhist path. Outside the city of Taiyuan, Dajue Temple has stood for many years with flourishing incense, being a place worshipped by local prominent clans for generations. The position of Abbot in the temple has always been held by one with outstanding virtue and spiritual capacity. Outside the temple lies the bustling secular world, the clamour of carriages and horses, the smoke of market hearths, people coming and going, each seeking their own completion. Inside the temple, however, is another world entirely—morning bells and evening drums, the ceaseless sound of chanting. Seemingly pure and uncontested, yet in truth, the undercurrents have never ceased. In the heart of every cultivator, there lies an unresolved Koan of their own. Wang Zhiwei was born into such a world.
