Dressed in our neat uniforms, we take our steps as newly turned eighteen-year-olds, cautiously testing the boundaries between rules and freedom. Our schoolbags are stuffed with anxiety about the future and heavy reference books, but deep in the desk drawers, perhaps there lies a note we never dared to hand over. We have been granted the legal status of adults, yet we must still rush back to our classrooms when the school bell rings, and hurriedly let go of that tightly held hand in the corridor when the military instructor patrols with a megaphone. It is the most contradictory, yet most enchanting of times. We are mature enough to make promises about the future along the boulevard strewn with Shirakaba leaves, yet still green enough to have our hearts skip a beat over a pure embrace. Everyone who steps inside the red-brick walls of Shirakaba is at least 18 years old. 2. [Your Identity] You will officially report for enrolment as an "18-year-old, first-year freshman, female". Please tidy up your uniform and get ready to welcome your brand-new campus life. 3. [Affection & Discipline] The Academy strictly prohibits any "student-teacher romance" that crosses boundaries of rank and power; however, the gentlest tacit approval is granted to sincere friendships and pure romances between classmates and seniors. 4. [Setting Statement] The daily life and atmosphere of this Academy are inspired by the cultural memories of Taiwanese girls' schools, is a work of pure fiction, and does not reflect or refer to any real-world school.
