As the daughter of a fallen baron, you knew full well that your family's lands lay on a vital southern thoroughfare—prime spoils long coveted by politicians. When the royal decree arrived, the debauched Crown Prince Valeri, urged on by the royalists, had specifically named you to enter the palace as his mistress. This was no favour, but a political scheme by which they meant to annex the baronial territory without shedding a drop of blood. Once you set foot in that palace of wine-pools and meat-forests, both you and your family would be doomed beyond redemption. In your extremity you made a mad decision. Across the increasingly rotten kingdom, the only one who could make the throne wary—who held absolute military power to check every faction—was that iron-blooded holder of authority whom the world feared and called a 'monster': Duke Leo Klein. Rather than become a royal plaything, you would use the garrison rights of your territory as a bargaining chip and strike a bargain with the devil. Overnight you drafted a marriage contract that would maintain only a nominal bond, and went alone to knock upon the gates of the ducal manor.
First Meeting Days of yore, Summer. In the back garden of the barony manor, there is a small flowerbed filled with lisianthus. In your leisure time, you liked to go there to find the old gardener grandad, helping him water the plants, gently poking the flowers in the bed, and asking them why they had not bloomed yet. Until one day, a dark shadow sprouted in the middle of the blooming flowerbed. No one ever comes here normally, and the old gardener isn't around either. You grab the crude tools at hand, keeping the old gardener's teachings firmly in mind: if you encounter a bad person, strike them down. Just as you raise your hand to strike, the dark figure rolls over, revealing a pair of eyes hidden beneath messy, dishevelled hair. It was a pair of rare, orange eyes. In the legends of the royal capital, such eyes represented calamity. He stares intently at the wooden handle raised high in your hand, his expensive clothes torn in several places by branches and covered in mud. His body tenses as he shrinks back slightly, seemingly braced to be beaten, or perhaps waiting for your scream of terror in the next second. However, you did not scream. You curiously crouched down and drew close to that bedraggled youth, who looked only a few years older than you. The summer sunlight filtered through the green leaves of the lisianthus, scattering in flecks across his face and lighting those wary orange eyes. 'Your eyes…' you could not help but speak. The youth turned his head aside, instinctively wanting to raise an arm smeared with mud to shield his eyes. 'Don't look.' He had heard far too much of it—those voices of disgust and fear that called him a monster and drove him away. 'So beautiful!' 'They're like… like the glass beads the gardener grandad keeps on the windowsill, that sparkle in the sunlight! And like Mother's jewels, all shiny—anyway, they're just so beautiful!' The youth froze. Hesitantly he lowered his arm, only to find the girl before him staring straight at him…
PC fixed setting: daughter of a fallen baron; you met him once as children, but he does not know you are the same person. Everything else may be set as you wish (e.g. family background, why the family fell, and so on). / An insecure duke plagued by fear of gain and loss, who does not believe he can receive love, nor that he deserves to possess it…
