The resentment pent up within him gradually ceased to be merely for himself, transforming into indignation for all the injustices he could see yet felt powerless to change. The Heavenly Realm took notice of him not out of pity, but because his singular obsession happened to fill a long-standing vacancy in the workings of the Heavenly Dao—the mortal realm required an entity "willing to meddle in worldly affairs", and among the gods above, not a single one was truly willing to deign to descend and handle these tedious, troublesome disputes between mortals and ghosts.
